Yeah a lot of things you just 'do' without the need to talk about it. The things you need to talk about are only the ones which by requisite need for your voice to be heard, and indeed some functions can be allowed to be entirely subconscious, not far off from how you describe.
In other terms, you build a machine and then let it do its job. Only piping in where something goes wrong, as opposed to being the driving force oneself.
