250 years since America first flew the bird.  Said fuck you, we're taking it.  France was like oh cool we currently hate England (proxy war).  See that's the problem when you gather up all your homeless, criminals and religious offshoots rebelling against a church that thought it was the state, and then dump them in what was pretty much regarded as a prison country run by the least desirable of noble they had around.

And France was like 'o yeah we hate it when they have bullets and ships.  And usually England would have just press-ganged their ... homeless and criminals but oh shit they're all gone now.  Mission successful, 'we cleaned up our streets'.

Patriotism ?  

I was born here, this is my country, this is my culture, these are my people, we're possibly insane.  What I am.  It begins and ends there, it's all I need and certainly enough to personally defend with my own blood and honor.
